Jet A1 overview and aviation applications
Jet A1 is a kerosene-type aviation turbine fuel. ASTM D1655 covers Jet A and Jet A-1 grades. Procurement must identify the applicable specification and edition; an aviation fuel label alone is insufficient for acceptance by an airport, operator or storage facility.
Product specification considerations
The contractual specification should identify the grade, relevant standard, permitted additives and quality documentation. Destination and operator acceptance requirements may supplement the commercial specification. Do not substitute a generic marketing data sheet for a certificate linked to the cargo.
- Review freezing point, flash point, density and thermal stability requirements.
- Agree water and contamination controls and sampling methods.
- Document additives and chain-of-custody requirements with the technical parties.
International supply coordination
Start with the destination, receiving terminal, planned end use and delivery period. Country of origin, route and export eligibility require transaction-specific confirmation. A request for Jet A1 from Kazakhstan does not demonstrate local production, a refinery relationship or a ready cargo.
FOB and CIF transactions
A FOB transaction requires buyer-side vessel and receiving readiness. A CIF structure adds seller-arranged carriage and insurance within the agreed terms. Neither structure replaces fuel quality controls or specifies when legal title passes.
Inspection, handling and buyer requirements
Identify an acceptable independent inspector and the required release documentation before movement. Confirm storage compatibility, cleanliness and handling procedures with the operators. Buyers should supply the legal entity, authority to procure, volume, delivery window, receiving location and technical contact.
Commercial documents and seller mandate
The written offer and sale and purchase agreement should align on product, inspection, delivery, payment and claims. Confirm the seller’s identity and the representative’s authority separately. KazExpo’s role is commercial coordination within a documented appointment; technical certification remains with the relevant qualified parties.
Request availability
Prepare a Jet A1 inquiry with a named specification and receiving location. Availability, export permissions and acceptance remain subject to review and written confirmation.
Frequently asked questions
Does a product inquiry reserve Jet A1?
No. A reservation or allocation requires express confirmation from the supply principal under agreed terms.
Can road or rail delivery be described as FOB?
FOB is a sea and inland waterway rule. Parties should select delivery terms suited to the actual transport arrangement.
